Pair of Vintage, Hand-painted Chinese Porcelain Melon Jar Lamps: Fresh Pastels. Lovely spring-like pastel florals featuring tulip, lilacs, and other small flowers, embellish these classically proportioned Chinese "melon jars". The porcelain is finished in the palest light pink, providing a perfect backdrop for the richer pinks, rose, blues, lavender, and jade greens of the florals.
This pair is estimated to be approximately 40-45 years old. They are estate finds from New York. The lamps are fitted with three-way sockets to provide variable lighting levels.
Brass fittings and sockets are polished brass, with a bit of freckling on one of the risers consistent with age of the lamps. Bases are dark mahogany, almost black in finish, and in very good condition except for one small dimple on one base, visible on close inspection and shown in the final photograph.
